Shopify supplement stores recover repeat orders without subscriptions

Supplements have regular usage cycles — 30, 60 or 90 days. Many customers intend to reorder and forget. Reorder Reminder Pro sends supplement reorder reminders (also called replenishment emails or repurchase reminders) to each customer, scheduled from their purchase date plus the usage days you set for each product.

Supplement customers want to reorder. They just forget.

Customers who like a supplement usually intend to reorder it. The gap between intention and action is timing: few people buy a new bottle the moment they finish the last one.

01

Customer finishes their supplement

The customer means to order more, then gets distracted or forgets.

02

No reminder arrives at the right time

Without a timely reminder, they order from whichever brand reaches them next.

03

You lose repeat revenue you already earned

You paid to acquire the customer; their second and third orders go elsewhere.

Configure usage days per product. Everything else is automatic.

1

Set usage days per supplement

For each product, enter how many days a typical customer's purchase lasts. A 60-cap bottle at 2 per day = 30 days. A 90-cap bottle at 1 per day = 90 days. You decide the number for each product.

2

Every order schedules a personalized reminder

Customer A buys collagen on May 1 — their reminder schedules for May 31. Customer B buys the same product on May 12 — their reminder schedules for June 11. No batch send. No arbitrary dates.

3

Customers get a timely email with a reorder link

When the reminder date arrives, the customer receives a personalized supplement replenishment email with their product and a reorder button that goes straight to Shopify checkout with the product in the cart.

Your Collagen Powder is nearly gone — time to restock

Hi Sarah,

It has been about 30 days since you ordered your Collagen Powder 500g. If you are on a daily routine, you are probably running low.

Supplement usage days by product type

Days a pack lasts = units per pack ÷ units per day. The last column takes off a 5-day buffer so the reminder arrives before the pack is finished. These are examples to start from: you set the number for each of your products, based on its pack size, dose and what you see your customers do.

Product (example) Pack and daily dose Pack lasts Usage days to set (5-day buffer)
Capsules and tablets
Vitamin D3, 180 caps 2 caps/day 90 days 85
Omega-3 fish oil, 120 caps 2 caps/day 60 days 55
Probiotic, 60 caps 1 cap/day 60 days 55
Magnesium, 90 tabs 3 tabs/day 30 days 25
Powders
Protein powder, 1kg (30 servings) 1 scoop/day 30 days 25
Collagen powder, 500g (30 servings) 1 serving/day 30 days 25
Greens powder, 60 servings 1 serving/day 60 days 55
Gummies
Multivitamin gummies, 60 count 2 gummies/day 30 days 25
Sleep gummies, 30 count 1 gummy/day 30 days 25

Work out your own products with the free reorder interval calculator. Powders and gummies are often taken less consistently than capsules — some customers skip days or share a tub. If your repeat orders tend to come later than the pack length suggests, increase the usage days. If customers take double doses (common with protein), decrease them.

Setting up supplement reorder reminders, step by step

  1. Install Reorder Reminder Pro

The app reads your Shopify orders directly; there is nothing to import.

  2. List the products that get used up

Start with daily best sellers: vitamins, protein, collagen, probiotics. Products without usage days, such as shakers or gift sets, send no reminders.

  3. Work out how long each pack lasts

Units per pack ÷ daily dose on the label, per variant: a 60-cap and a 180-cap bottle need different numbers. The reorder interval calculator does the sum.

  4. Subtract a buffer and enter the usage days

Take off 3–7 days for delivery and enter the result. If every product genuinely lasts the same time, Auto Mode can apply one number to all of them.

  5. Brand the email and decide on a discount

Add your logo and colors. A discount code is optional.

  6. Check subscription orders are tagged

Orders tagged "Subscription" (Loop Subscriptions adds the tag) are excluded, so subscribers are not reminded.

  7. Review after the first cycle

Compare when customers actually reorder with the usage days you set, and adjust products that are consistently early or late.

What a supplement replenishment email should include

The example earlier on this page shows the structure:

  • Subject line naming the product. "Your Collagen Powder is nearly gone" is clearer than a generic "Time to restock".
  • When they bought it. "It has been about 30 days since you ordered" explains why the email arrived today.
  • The exact product and variant. Size and flavor, so they reorder the same thing without searching.
  • One button that opens checkout. Reorder Reminder Pro's reorder button goes straight to Shopify checkout with the product in the cart, not to a product page.
  • No health claims you have not already made. Keep the copy to what is on your product page and label.

Supplement subscriptions vs reorder reminders

If usage changesCustomer has to skip or change the planCustomer simply orders later
Payment issuesStored cards can fail on renewalCustomer pays at checkout each time

Many supplement stores run both. Reorder Reminder Pro excludes orders tagged "Subscription", so the two do not overlap.

Supplement store questions

How do I set reminder timing for supplements with different serving sizes?

In Manual Mode, you configure usage days per product. A 60-capsule supplement at 2 per day lasts 30 days — enter 30. A 180-capsule supplement at 3 per day lasts 60 days — enter 60. Each product has its own reminder cadence. Customers who bought the 60-day bottle get their reminder 60 days after purchase, not 30.

What about customers who buy multiple supplements at once?

Reorder Reminder Pro schedules a separate reminder for each product in the order. If a customer buys a 30-day collagen and a 90-day vitamin D3 in one order, they receive two reminders — one at 30 days and one at 90 days — both scheduled from their purchase date.

Does it work for bundle products or multi-pack supplements?

Yes. For bundles, you set the usage days for the bundle's typical duration. For multi-packs (e.g. 3-month supply packs), set the usage days to match the full pack duration — 90 days for a 3-month pack. Customers get their reminder after the usage days you set for the full pack.

Do customers need a subscription to get supplement repurchase reminders?

No. Reorder Reminder Pro works with standard one-time purchases. Customers do not need to subscribe, and you do not need to convert your product listings to subscription products. The app reads regular Shopify orders and schedules reminders automatically. Orders tagged "Subscription", for example by Loop Subscriptions, are excluded and get no reminders.

How many days before a supplement runs out should the reminder arrive?

Most stores aim for 3–7 days before a pack would be finished, so there is time to order and deliver before the customer misses a dose. Set usage days to the pack length minus that buffer: a 30-day tub with a 5-day buffer gets 25 usage days.

Stop losing supplement repeat orders.

Each customer's reminder goes out on the usage days you set — not when a batch email fires.
